At the Center, Centreville in the Civil War |
 |
Centreville stood on a major road that led from Washington to Manassas (which was a critical rail junction), to the Rappahannock and on to Richmond. Consequently, it became strategic in many of the early campagins of the war that were waged across Northern Virginia and remained a part of the outer defenses of Washington throughout the war.
Here, as part of the 150th commemoration of the Civil War, we share stories, images, and other items of interest. Items will be added as the five-year anniversary progresses. Have a story or item to share? Click "contact us" above, and let us know about it. |
