The family owned company, ArCom Publishing, traces its roots to 1960 when founder Arthur W. (Nick) Arundel, a decorated Marine Corps officer in Korea and Vietnam, CBS News Correspondent and UPI wire service reporter, bought a bankrupt Washington area country music radio station and transformed it into America's first all news broadcasting station.
Located in the heart of one of the nation's fastest growing 'infotech' corridors, the company is an exciting place to work near Dulles Airport and Washington, D.C. It continues committed to hiring the best people and giving them the best tools to work with. Times Community Newspapers observes one basic tenet in building a team of the best in journalism -- "Eagles don't flock, you find them one at a time."
In 1963, the company expanded from radio and television into print journalism with purchase of the 165-year-old Loudoun Times-Mirror in Leesburg, VA. It was the first newspaper in Virginia to convert from century-old hot lead type printing to the then new cold type offset printing systems. The company has been an innovative pioneer in American community journalism ever since.
The company is now led by Peter Arundel, the founder's son, successful in his own right as a career broadcast and print journalist.
With over 300 staff members, the company is rapidly growing in the business of of information distribution, both in print and web publishing. The newspapers are nationally recognized for excellence among the best in the news industry, winning over 800 coveted national and Virginia journalism awards.
